- mostly found in factories, police, fast food businesses

- paternal means showing kindness like a father, but could be the leadership style of a woman

- dominant authority figure who expects loyalty and trust

- employees can make decisions freely
- work in a relaxed environment and have little direction and guidelines
- very affective in creative environments
