A
- if the product is aesthetically pleasing, people are more likely to buy it
- how the senses respond to the product (candle + smell)
- stylish products can charge premium prices
- emotional attachment with customer

- what the item is used for
- will product be fit for its purpose
- how well does it perform

Importance of economic manufacture/ cost
A
- minimum cost whilst retaining quality
- can it be made efficiently
- aim to be produced for a lower cost than competitors = competitive advantage

A
- bespoke design (custom made)
- standard design ( can’t add more features)
- efficiencies (achieved by changing types of materials used)
- design for waste minimisation
- re use = good value for money
- recycling (appeals to green consumers)
- ethical sourcing = ensures products are sourced in safe facilities
