14.3-14.5 Flashcards
how do light filters work
absorb and transmit certain wavelengths (green filter would only let green through)
what do transparent objects do when light hits them
they transmit all the incident light that enters the object - no light is absorbed
what happens when light hits a translucent object
light passes through but it is scattered or refracted. This is because the material of the object has lots of internal boundaries
what happens when light hits an opaque object
all the light is absorbed so you cant see through it
what dies a lense do
change the direction of light passing through it
what does a convex (converging) lens do
makes paralle rays converge to a focus which is called the pricicpal focus
what does a concave ( diverging ) lens do
makes parralel rays diverge ( spread out )
what the the equation for magification
