Involves processes of attracting, identifying + selecting the best workers or a role
Internal recruitment + ads
A role is filled by promoting employees within organisation
-cheaper than external
-managers know employees so trust + less risk
-may require less training
-promotion OPPs r good motivation
External recruitment + ads
Involves brining new employees from outside org (from adverts/employment agencies/government training schemes)
-may attract wider number of applicants
-brings new skills + ideas
Training
Process of developing employees by improving knowledge + skills in order to perform duties better
Induction training
Training is part of recruitment throughout year or week
On-the-job + ads + disads
Training under supervision during employment
+ easier + cheaper to organise
- can be disruptive for others
Off-the-job + ads + disads
Time away from employment to train
+ mistakes reduced as training isn’t on site
+ more motivating
-costly
-may not be relevant to job
