14 - Landing Gear Flashcards

1
Q

Tiller steering angle?

Rudder pedal steering angle?

A
  • 70 deg (main gear aft axel steering slaved to nose wheel steering)(enabled when >13 deg, turns in opposite direction)
  • 7 deg (does not activate main gear steering)

Q

How is Landing Gear held in up position? When is system depressurized?

A

Uplocks

After gear retracted and all doors are closed, system is automatically depressurized

Q

What happens when the gear lever is moved to down?

A

Landing gear doors open, the gear are unlocked and the gear free-falls without hydraulic power to the down and locked position. The downlocks are powered to the locked position, all hydraulically actuated gear doors close, and the main gear trucks hydraulically tilt to the flight position

Q

How is gear alternately extended?

A

Dedicated DC powered electric hydraulic pump and C system fluid releases all door and gear uplocks. Gear then freefalls to down and locked

Q

What is SLG and how does it work?

A

Semi-Lever Gear

Hydraulic actuator connects the forward end of each main gear to the shock strut.

TO: actuator locks, A/C rotates about the aft wheel axle

Lndg: dampens landing loads

Q

What is the purpose of the brake accumulator and what system is it located in?

A
  • extends parking brake holding time
  • stabilizes normal brake pressure during initial application and antiskid cycling
  • supplies pressure for several braking applications or to set parking brake if C/R system pressure is lost.

Q

What wheel groups have antiskid protection in Normal/Alternate? Is antiskid provided when pressure is provided only from the brake accumulator?

A

Q

What is Taxi Brake Release and how/when does it work?

A

Less than 45 kts; antiskid releases brakes on axel pair of each main gear during each brake application. Only in normal
