2
Q

explain oil and natural gas. how do they form?

A

form from remains of dead marine organisms. Organisms sink to the bottom of the ocean and buried by sediments, heat and pressure transforms it into oil and natural gas

Q

what are gas hydrates?

A

compact chemical structures made of water and natural gas (methane). when things decompose at the bottom of ocean it turns into methane gas. Gets trapped in mud but when they bring it up it warms up and starts to ignite. Source of fuel

Q

what are manganese nodules? how are they a resource?

A

hard lumps of manganese, iron, and smaller amounts of copper, nickel, and cobalt. Metals precipitate around objects. “chimneys” of mineral deposits form, these vents release a lot of minerals into water
