A
Our tendency to unconsciously mimic the expressions, gestures, and postures of others.

- Obedience (compliance with direct commands)

What are social norms?
A
- Social rules about how members of society are expected to act
- Provide order and predictability
- Some are explicit (No smoking on campus)
- Some are implicit (How to ride an elevator)

What is conformity?
A
The tendency to yield to social pressure.

What factors increase conformity? (4)
A
- If one person is made to feel incompetent
- If a person admires the groups status and attractiveness

A
4 people (no greater effect after this)

A
A set of norms ascribes to a person’s social position (eg teacher should be organised)
