Crime control model - examples

A

The removal of double jeopardy rule and extended pre charge detention time for terrorist offences.

Collin Stagg and Barry George - both given unfair bad character judgement and charged with lack of evidence, denied bail and found guilty straight away.

Aim was to secure a conviction at any cost to get solved quickly and stop public reaction.

All interviews are now recorded and suspects have right to legal representations. Human rights act 1998 allows for criminal justice practices to be looked at from human rights perspectives.
