Functions of HR
They are responsible for managing the people who work in a business
Flexible Workforce
When a businesses workforce does not match the traditional pattern and work pattern can change to meet demands
Flexible hours
Employee chooses when to start and end work with agreed limits
Part time working

Multi skilling
Involves business training a workforce to work effectively over a wide range of tasks
Hot desking
An employee has no fixed work space, reduced need for office space
Zero hours contract
An employee is available to work but not guaranteed work, provides employees with total flexibility, no income security
Work force plan/ work force planning
Process of determining the labour needs of the country now and in the future, including the number of workers required and their skills
Internal & External recruitment
Filling a vacancy by employing someone who already works for the business, via filling it by someone outside the business
