What are the five roots of Shi’a Islam and what do they mean?

A
  1. Tawhid - Belief in the oneness and the incomparable power of God.
  2. Adl - Belief in justice and fairness. Shi’as believe that Allah is just and therefore they should strive to treat everyone equally.
  3. Nubuwwah - Belief that Allah appointed Prophets to send His messages to humanity.
  4. Imamah - Belief that Muhammad was the last imam (teacher) who currently still lives and is hidden by Allah, awaiting return to end tyranny and oppression.
  5. Mi’ad - Belief that every human will be brought back to life on the last day and will be judged by Allah.
