A substance that causes changes to the functions of the body.
What is drug abuse?
Taking drugs in a way that harms our body.

1) causes mental discomfort such as depression and hallucinations
2) addiction to drugs causes people to suffer withdrawal symptons when they stop taking drugs
3) increases the risk of contracting AIDS through sharing of needles
