OR etiquette general Pre-op rules: (7)
1- Know pt name, DZ, type of operation, and complications
2- Introduce yourself to surg tech and OR circulator
3- Always stay longest
4- Always be on time
5- Load a display pertinent imaging studies to case
6- help prep and position pt
7- write your name, position and glove size on dry erase board
OR etiquette general Intra-op Rules: (10)
1- mask and eye protection at all times
2- no white coat
3- turn off cell phone
4- do not speak during time out
5- do no make negative comments about pt
6- learn sterile technique (hands above waist and below shoulders)
7- do not reach over or pass any instrument
8-ask questions when lulls
9- leave if feel sick
10- sharps protection when transferring (needle down and knife back)
11- Be a part of the surgical team!
OR etiquette for exiting and when you should leave OR: (2)
–Always alert OR team to avoid distractions
Exit if you:
1- feel sick
2- contaminated self (step out of operating field)
