4 Steps for multiplying decimals

A

Step 1: Ignore the decimal. Multiply the first factor by the digit in each place value in the second factor.
Step 2: Continue the process until you have all partial products for each of the place values.
Step 3: Find the sum of the partial products to find the final product.
Step 4: Locate the decimal point for the final product. Count the total number of digits behind the decimal point in each factor.

You do not need 0 placeholders or to line up the decimal points. But keep partial products and your regrouping numbers lined up correctly.
