(Random Access Memory) is used as the main memory in a computer.

What does ROM stand for and what is it’s purpose in a computer?

(Read Only Memory) has the instructions for the computer to properly boot up when powered on.

What is the difference between RAM and ROM?

RAM is volatile whereas ROM is non-volatile. Also RAM can be read and written to whereas ROM can only be read.
