Q

explain the myth of niobe, what message does the myth portray?

A

Niobe thinks she’s the best mom because she had 6 boys 6 girls and compared herself to Leto who only had 2 kids. She denigrates the goddess and boasts. Apollo and Artemis get offended and respond to Niobe. They kill all Niobe’s children. Niobe is overcome with grief and is transformed into a rock and she still cries even as a rock. This myth shows that when gods get angry they get vengeance, and humans shouldn’t mess with the gods.

A

According to Ovid when actaeon is hunting in the same forest as artemis, she goes to take a bath in the water and actaeon comes across her, and sees her naked.
