CPS - provide them with any evidence, take advice when arresting
HM prison service - managing sex offenders living in certain areas, arresting prisoners in breach of probation
courts - provides evidence, transport and hold offenders to and from court trials / hearings
what is the role of the sentencing council
provide courts with up to date guidelines on sentencing tariffs
what relationships does the sentencing council have with other organisations
courts- guide sentencing, ensuring fairness and consistency
CPS- give sentence indication, can also hold Goodyear hearing
what is the role of the HM prison and probation services
hold offenders in custody and monitor them once released
what relationships do the HM prison and probation services have with other organisations
police- need to inform police on offenders behaviour and if they go awol and need bringing in, help manage offenders by updating them on dates etc
courts- prison officers help transfer offenders to and from court, update the courts on offenders behaviour and prepare reports
what is the role of the CPS
to bring cases to court
what relationships does the CPS have with other organisations
police- request evidence from police, advise the police how to charge
courts- put together a ‘bundle’ for court with everything judge will need to see, CPS present this to court
what is the role of campaigns for change
bring about change in society norma, values, attitudes and behaviours
what relationships do campaigns for change have with other organisations
they work with the police in bringing about change and legal issues can be represented in the courts
