Q

conscious (attentive)

A
  • slow, serial, limited capacity
  • voluntary (feature-color or location)
  • color selection is easy
  • complex properties like baldness is not available preattentively

Q

visual search experiments

A
  • no matter how many objects
  • same amount of time for horizontal bar, and more for if it is not present

-for more complex properties, the time increases constantly, even higher if absent

Q

spatial resolution of attention

A

you can shrink the area of attention small, but not to smallest details
looking at center, see the bars but not attend to them by counting

Q

Deficits of attention = neglect

A

visual neglect

  • half of visual world no longer matters
  • ignoring left mental image
  • problem with conciousness
  • damage to dorsal pathway (parietal lobes) usually on the right side -> loss of attention to contralesional side
