Q

How are the structure of leaves adapted for photosynthesis? 9 points

A
  • a large surface area to absorb sunlight
  • leaves arranged to avoid overlapping
  • thin so short diffusion gradient
  • transparent cuticle and epidermis
  • long narrow upper mesophyll cells with lots of chloroplast
  • numerous stomata for gas exchange
  • stomata open and close in response to gas exchange
  • air spaces in lower mesophyll cells to allow gas diffusion
  • xylem bring water to leaves phloem carries sugar away
