(1) Chain of Sommand
-Employees will at all times operate within their chain of command and keep their supervisors informed of their activities.
(2) Command of Resources in the Field
- Command of resources in the field will be vested in the senior-ranking deputy, firefighter, or designee, who directly supervises the shift and/or district activity.
- Command and control of BSO resources in the field will employ Incident Command System of the National Incident Management System.
(1) Accountability
-To promote efficiency and responsibility, each employee will be accountable to only one supervisor at a given time.
(2) Unity of Command
- Each organizational component will be under the command of only one supervisor.
- Each supervisor will be accountable for the performance of assigned employees.
(1) Command of Joint BSO Operations
If two or more BSO commands are engaged in a single, combined operation, the person in charge will be clearly identified to all participants at the beginning.
(1) Discretion
-Since it is not possible to anticipate all situations that may arise or prescribe applicable courses of action, common sense and good judgement must be used by all employees entrusted with BSO responsibilities.
(1) Administrative Command Structure
-If the Sheriff is absent from the county and unable to carry out the responsibilities of the office, the Sheriff will specify a designee in writing.
