What is meant by primary sector ?

This is the sector that deals with the extraction of raw materials.
E.g. Agriculture, farming, fishing, forestry etc

A
This sector deals with manufacturing goods.
Raw materials produced by the primary sector.
E.g. food processing, car manufacturing

What is meant by tertiary sector ?
A
Known as the service sector.
Provides service and selling of goods made by both primary and secondary.
E.g. retail, education, transport, hospitals, banking

Why has the UK primary sector declined over time ?
A
- impacts of competition from overseas
- greater demands for raw materials in the UK has been increasing met by imports.
- low cost imports
- many manufacturing business have relocated overseas.

Explain the growth in the tertiary sector ?
A
The growth has occurred for numerous of reasons,
- more disposable income (after tax)
- technological developments
- increased education and qualifications
