What sort of signs are maximum speed limits shown in?
Red circles
What do short broken white lines do
Divide lanes
What do longer broken white lines do
They are hazard warning lines - only overtake if you can see that the road ahead is clear
What do double white lines on your side of the road mean
You must not cross or straddle the line
What do white diagonal stripes or chevrons do
These separate lanes of traffic or protect traffic turning right
What does a white line show
The edge of a carriageway
What do yellow lines show
Waiting and stopping restrictions
What do zigzag lines show
No stopping or parking at any time
What do broken lines across the road mean
Give way
What does a solid line on or across the road mean
Stop
What do various markings on the road mean
hazard
What does red at a traffic light mean
Stop and wait behind the stop line
What does red and amber at a traffic light mean
Stop and wait
What does green at a traffic light mean
Go, if the way is clear
What does amber at the traffic light mean
Stop unless you’ve already crossed the stop line
What is the sequence of traffic lights

You can go in the direction of the arrow, even if the main light isn’t showing green
