1.1 points, lines, & planes Flashcards
concepts that are so basic that it is impossible to write a definition that does not refer to the term being defined.
Undefined Terms
names a location. A point has no dimenion.
Point
names a straight path of points in a plane.
Line
a flat surface
plane
a point at an end of a segment or the starting point of a ray
endpoint
a part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extends forever in one direction
ray
part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all points between them.
line segment
a measure of length of the shortest line segment that would connect them
Distance
they lie on the same line
collinear
points and lines
coplanar
a statement that is accepted as true without proof
postulate
two segments that have the same length
congruent
a figure is to divide it into two congruent parts.
bisect
a segment is the point that bisects the segment into two congruent segments
midpoint
