EQUALITY
the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities.
WHAT EQUALITY MEANS
-ensuring people are treated fairly and equally
-individuals must be given the same choices and opportunities regardless of their specific needs and differences
- must not be discriminated against due to their race sexuality,disability or gender
DIVERSITY
the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc.
WHAT DOES DIVERSITY ENCOMPASS
- recognising and valuing that every individual is unique
- accepting and respecting individuals differences for example difference in religion beliefs or race
RIGHTS
–Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement
WHAT ARE RIGHTS
-rights are what everyone is legally entitled to and are enshrined in legislation such as the equality act.
EXAMPLES OF RIGHTS
-choice
-confidentiality
-protection from abuse and harm
- equal and fair treatment,
-consultation
- right to life
