Q

Genetic causes of variation

A
  1. Alleles
  2. Mutations
  3. Meiosis
  4. Sexual Reproduction
  5. Chance- many different gametes are produced from the parental genome, as to which two combine during sex is by chance (random fertilisation)

Q

Asexual reproduction

A

Leads to the production of clones that are genetically identical to their parents, so variation is much less like than with sexual reproduction. The only cause is mutation.

Q

Both

A

In most cases variation is a combination for example height, skin colour.

Due to this, it is difficult to investigate and draw conclusions about the causes of variation in any particular case. eg. Intelligence??
