licensure
the granting or regulation of licenses, as for professionals
Informed Consent
legal consent granted by the patient whereby he or she is made aware of, understands and agrees to the nature of the testing or services to be done
Breach of Duty
occurs when a person’s conduct fails to meet an applicable standard of care. It is one the four elements of Negligence (harm that was done)
tort
a wrongful act or an infringement of a right leading to civil legal liability
patient bill of rights
a list of guarantees for those receiving medical care. Typically guarantees patients information, fair treatment, and autonomy over medical decisions, among other rights
confidentiality
state of keeping or being kept secret or private
professionalism
the conduct, aims or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person
malpractice
improper, illegal or negligent professional activity or treatment, especially by a medical practioner, lawyer or public official
Negligence
failure to take proper care in doing something
invasion of privacyy
illicit use of documentary materials related to treatment or condition of a patient
Reasonable care
the level of care that a reasonable person would exercise in such circumstances
assault
make a physical attack
battery
an unlawful application of force directly or indirectly upon another person or their personal belongings, causing bodily injury for offensive contact. The attempt of battery is assault
RACE
Rescue (anyone in immediate danger)
Activate (fire alarm)
Control/contain (all doors closed)
Extinguish/evacuate ( put out fire or evacuate closing the door behind you
