What is the aim of post resuscitation care?
To restore oxygenation and perfusion to vital organs as quick as possible
What are possible complications a child can suffer after tracheal intubation?
DOPES!
displacement of tracheal tube into oesophagus or R main bronchus
obstruction of the artificial airway (secretions)
Pneumothorax (excessive BMV pressure of rib # from compressions)
Equipment failure (oxygen disconnected)
Stomach distension
In post resus state, what urine output should you aim for in infants?
> 2 ml per kg per hour
In post resus state, what urine output should you aim for in children?
> 1 ml per kg per hour
What other parameters are important to control?
Temperature
Blood sugar
Blood pressure
What are the post resus investigations you might ask for?
Biochemistry, FBC, lactate, glucose
CXR
ABG
CT head?
