Why would you request an AXR?
A
Acute abdominal pain - small or large bowel obstruction - acute exacerbation of IBD (toxic megacolon with perforation) - renal colic Not really used much anymore though

Perforation of viscera leading to gas in peritoneal cavity

- diverticular
- tumour
- obstruction
- trauma
- iatrogenic (laparoscopic surgery)
