Name different camera movements?

What is a pan?
A pan is a horizontal camera movement.
What is a whip pan?
Follows same rules as normal pan but much quicker - so images blur.
What is a tilt shot?
A vertical pan, up and down rather than side to side.
What is a tracking shot?
Enables the audience to feel as if they are moving with the action through space.
What is a steadicam shot?
Motion tracking shots may also be captured using a Steadicam.
A steadicam device is a harness that uses the camera person’s body as the support device for the camera.
Stabilizing mechanisms counter the movements of the camera person to eliminate camera shake.
What is a crane shot?
Achieved by mounting a camera on some type of crane device.
Enables the filmmaker to move the camera through the air in virtually any direction.
Often long takes with anywhere from medium to extreme long framing.
Name the two types of sound?
Diegetic sound
Non-diegetic sound
What is diegetic sound?
Sound source is visible - you can imagine characters on screen being able to hear it.
What is non-diegetic sound?
Sound source is not visible - i.e. music, narrators commentary.
When the sound source is not visible but heard by the audience it is known as what?
Non-diegetic sound.
When the sound source is visible or implied and heard by the characters it is known as what?
Diegetic sound.
A horizontal camera movement is known as what?
A pan.
A fast horizontal camera movement which blurs visuals is known as what?
A whip pan.
A vertical camera movement is known as what?
A tilt shot.
