Q
Facilitated diffusion
A
Transport of molecules across the cell membrane by carriers of integral membrane protein. The direction goes from higher to lower concentration; passive transport. It is utilised by molecules that are unable to freely cross the phospholipid bilayer (e.g. large, polar molecules and ions such as monosaccharides and amino acids).
