Organization of Quebec after the Treaty of Paris
Great Britain organized its new possessions in North America. Instead of the French crown, decisions made by the British crown had a major impact on colonial society in North America.

The first constitution (series of laws) which brought about major changes to the previously French territory and administration.

The creation of the Province of Quebec and the creation of territories reserved entirely for native populations.

The province stretched along regions in the St Lawrence Valley and included the three major cities of former New France (Montreal, Quebec, Trois Rivières). This province was created for administrative purposes, because the three cities were located there, and for trade purposes.
What did the Royal Proclamation recognize for the native people?
Territorial rights of the native populations and the principles for negotiating land treaties between Native and non-Native peoples.
What territory was reserved for the Native peoples?
Ohio Valley and Great Lakes Region
What regulations were instituted for Britains to live in the native territory?
No British colonist was allowed to settle in the territory without the permission of British authority.
What was the attempt of creating the native territory?
To keep the peace between British and Native Peoples.
How did the creation of Native Territories respond to Pontiac’s revolt?
The British crown promised territories to bands that were allied with Pontiac, in exchange for having peace with each other.
What new form of political organization was created?
The Royal Proclamation abolished the military regime and replaced it with a civilian government (regular people as oppose to the army).

The Governor General.

He appointed 12 members as consultants known as the Council of Quebec to advise him, they had no real power.
