ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS By Type of Surgery ?

A
  1. In general: Cefazolin.
  2. Colorectal surgery, appendectomy: Cefoxitin or cefotetan.
  3. Urologic procedures: Ciprofloxacin.
  4. Head and neck: Cefazolin or clindamycin and gentamicin.
  • Single dose 30 minutes prior to skin incision, and again 6 hours later if operation is ongoing.
