Question 2

Requirements to Obtain a Class 7 Learners License (Stage 1)

Answer 2

• Be 14 years of age or older
• Pass a vision screening
• Pass a knowledge test on the rules of the road
• Have parental consent if under the age of 18
• Have valid identification

Conditions for a Class 7 Learners Licenses Driver

Answer 3

• Hold license for at least a year before testing for other licenses
• Must be accompanied by a fully licensed adult who is seated next to you
• Not permitted to drive between midnight and 5am
• Not permitted to have more passengers than seatbelts
• Must not accumulate 8 or more demerit points
• Must have no alcohol in system when driving

Requirements to Obtain a Class 5 Probationary Licesnse

• Be 16 years or older
• Hold class 7 learners license for at least a year (time will be added with demerit points)
• Pass the Albert Class 5 Road test

Conditions for a Class 5 Probationary License Driver

• Must hold probationary license for a minimum of 2 years
• Must have no more passengers than seatbelts
• Must not accumulate 8 or more demerit points
• Must have no alcohol in system while driving
• Cannot re-class to commercial license
• Cannot supervise learners license driver

How do you Exit the GLD Program?

• Be 18 years or older
• Hold a probationary license for at least 2 years
• Be free of violations or suspensions (alcohol) for last 12 months of probationary stage

Can reduce probationary stage to 6 months if you pass a certified driving course and other criteria is met

What Happens Upon Leaving the GLD Program?

• Receive full Class 5 drivers license
• Now allowed to test for other licenses (ex. commercial)
• Can receive more demerit points
• Allowed to drink with some school in system
• Can supervise someone with a Lerners license
