It was a paper that made lives easier for Jews but it didn’t lift all restrictions. Moses was asked by the Jews of Alsace to write a petition. He asked his friend Dohm, to help him. Dohm wrote a plea for freedom and equality for all Jews of Western Europe. Dohms plea led Joseph II to proclaim the edict of tolerance
