Narcotic drugs (CODEINE PHOSPHATE)
A
- Calm cough
- Cause drug dependance
- Depress Respiratory Center
- Reduces the respiratory volume,
- Increases the tone of the bronchi, sphincters
- Causes constipation
In combination with non-narcotic analgesics, caffeine, phenobarbital (“Pentalgin N”, “Sedalgin”, etc.) is used for headaches, neuralgia, etc.
CON= Contraindicated in respiratory failure and infants.
