What is business continuity?
Capability of a business to operate in adverse conditions.
What are disaster recovery plans, business continuity plans, and crisis communication plans?
- Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) focus on the recovery of tech, plant, and people.
- Business Continuity Plans (BCP) focus on overall strategy for sustaining the business during disaster and subsequent recovery period.
- Crisis Communication Plans (CCP) focus on internal and external communications.
What is the purpose of a business impact analysis?
Identify essential services and business processes and to characterize system components and interdependencies.
What are the goals of a BIA?
Determine impact and criticality, establish recovery requirements, and recovery priorities.
What is MTD?
Maximum Tolerable Downtime - maximum time a process or service can be unavailable without significantly impacting the business.
What is SDO?
Service Delivery Objective - acceptable level of operations less than normal but sufficient enough to sustain the business until full recovery
What is RTO?
Recovery Time Objective - Amount of time allocated for system recovery before negatively impacting other systems
What is RPO?
(Recovery Point Objective): Acceptable data loss. Translates to the point in time prior to the disruption that data can be recovered.
What is MTTR?
Mean time to repair
What is MTBF?
Mean time between failures
