Q

Novel def.

A

A novel is a long narrative, normally in prose, which describes fictional characters and events, usually in the form of a sequential story. The conventions of the Novel have been constantly challenged and changed. And it remains debatable what really constitutes a Novel, because we have a wide Variety of Styles , narrative techniques and Subject matters.
Additionally there are also many subgenres . So usually the criteria for a Novel only encludes a certain length ( over 100 p) , prose, a Plot and the Events involve experiences of characters.

81
Q

What is American ?

A

It’s difficult to define what is American , and this has to do with The question of the Canon and the Separation of popular vs. Highbrow Literature ,
so we have to ask ourselves at what Time is what Regarded as Important Literature of we just include all new World Writings whatever their Language Form or degree of artistry.
And if we choose to Do the latter,we Need to broaden our Definition of American Literature in Terms of Time ,Space , Language and Form.
