1-2 Measuring Segments Flashcards
distance
the straight measurable length from one point to another
coordinate
a real number line that matches or corresponds to that point
between
if three collinear points exist then the point somewhere in the middle is said to be between the other two points
congruent segments
if the length of two line segments are equal then the two line segments themselves are congruent
midpoint
the midpoint of a segment is the point that divides the segment into two smaller segments
segment bisector
a point line ray segment or plane that intersects a line segments midpoint
ruler postulate
if two points that have coordinates on a number line are corresponding to each of two values for those coordinates then the distance between those two points is the absolute value of the difference of the values
segment addition postulate
if there are three collinear points on a line then the length of the segment between the first last points is equal to the sum of the lengths of the other smaller 2 segments
