1/18/23 AIRPLANE GENERAL, EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT, DOORS AND WINDOWS Flashcards
Which light colors are used to indicate conditions that require immediate and timely attention of the Flight Crew?
Red = immediate
Conditions which require the immediate attention of the Flight Crew are indicated by red warning lights. These lights are normally located in the pilots’ primary field of vision and indicate engine, wheel well, cargo, or APU fires; autopilot, autothrottle disconnects; and landing gear unsafe conditions.
Amber = timely
Conditions which require the timely attention of the Flight Crew are indicated by amber caution
lights
What causes the MASTER CAUTION and System Annunciator lights to illuminate?
When any caution occurs outside the normal field of vision of the Flight Crew.
The MASTER CAUTION (amber) lights and the respective System Annunciator light(s) illuminate when any caution occurs outside the normal field of vision of the Flight Crew.
How are Master Caution System indications different for a single channel fault than a dual channel fault?
When dual channel systems lose a single channel, the associated caution light (on the Overhead Panel) does not illuminate.
Which Flight Deck Windows open?
The Flight Deck Number Two Windows are the only windows on the Flight Deck that can be opened. The windows may be opened on the ground or in flight and used for emergency evacuation. The first officers window (R2) may be opened from the outside.
Are there any speed limitations on an aircraft with retractable landing lights?
No
Where are the WING lights located?
They are flush-mounted wing illumination light installed on each side of the fuselage to illuminate
the leading edge of each wing.
Which systems can pressurize the Potable Water System and what conditions must be met for the system to operate?
The Pneumatic System using bleed air from the engines or APU
An electric air compressor is used when the pneumatic system is insufficient and the following conditions exist:
- pressure in the water tank is less than 30 psig (pressure limit switch is closed)
- water service panel door is closed (compressor cut-out switch is closed)
- CAB/UTIL switch is positioned to ON
When is 100% oxygen supplied to the Flight Deck oxygen masks?
By pushing the NORMAL/100% control lever, the regulator is adjusted from the air/oxygen mixture to 100% oxygen.
By Rotating the Emergency/Test selector, the regulator is adjusted to supply O2 under pressure.
How is the PASS OXYGEN system activated?
With the switch in NORMAL, the system is automatically activated by an aneroid switch at a cabin altitude of 14,000 ft. When required, the PASS OXYGEN switch may be manually positioned to ON to activate the system.
How long does oxygen flow when the PASS OXYGEN system is activated?
When any one of the four masks is pulled downward. Oxygen flows for approximately 12 minutes and cannot be shut off.
What will cause the emergency exit lights to illuminate when armed?
If electrical power to DC Bus No. 1 fails or if AC power has been removed, the Emergency Exit Lights illuminate automatically.
Can the Aft Attendant Panel EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS override Flight Deck Control?
Yes, Lifting the guard and pushing the switch ON overrides the Flight Deck control and illuminates the Emergency Exit Lights (even if the Flight Deck EMER EXIT LIGHTS switch is positioned to OFF).
What causes the overwing emergency exits to lock?
Flight Lock System
The overwing emergency exits lock when:
- a minimum of three of the four entry/service doors are closed, and
- either engine is running, and
- the aircraft air/ground logic indicates that the aircraft is in the air or both thrust levers are advanced to the takeoff power position
How does the Flight Deck door respond to pressurization decompression events?
Flight Deck Rapid D - Two decompression panels allow air to vent from Pax cabin into the flight deck in the event of rapid D.
Pax Cabin Rapid D - entire flight deck door may open allowing air to vent to Pax Cabin.
Can the flight deck door be dead bolted?
Yes - During Pax Cabin decompression, the door will not latch normally. But deadbolt may be used.
