1# Flashcards
Two things atmosphere effects that affect performance
Pressure and Temperature, these effect the density of the air
Standard Pressure and Effects of altitude on pressure
29.92 and 15C (at sea level), pressure decreases with altitude rise
Density Altitude
The pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature.
Pressure above 29.92
Air is denser, colder. Lower pressure increases performance of engine, propeller, and wings. Pressure altitude decreases with a higher than standard mercury level
Presser Below 29.92
Less dense, Warmer. Decreased performance and increased pressure. Below standard 29.92 mercury level pressure levels increase
Low Pressure
Cold
High Pressure
Warm
Performance and Altitude
Performance and altitude have an inverse relationship, as altitude increases performance decreases vice versa
.10” Hg Pressure Change
Every .10” Hg pressure change is 100’ change
Altitude Defined
Altitude is where the airplane is relative to the atmosphere
