06 Circular Motion Flashcards
Centripetal acceleration
ac = rω2 or ac = v2/r
Why does centripetal force not cause an increase in kinetic energy of a body?
Centripetal force is always perpendicular to direction of motion of the body (in circular motion)
hence work done by centripetal force is zero
Angular Displacement
Angular displacement is the angle of rotation of a body about an axis in a specific direction from a reference point
Angular Velocity
Angular velocity is the rate of change of angular displacement of a body
Angular Velocity
Angular velocity is the rate of change of angular displacement of a body
Centripetal Force
According to Newton’s Second Law of Motion, for a body to move at constant speed in a circular path, it must have a resultant external force acting on it to undergo centripetal acceleration. This force is also known as the centripetal force
