048 Vision - Central Vision Pathways Flashcards
What is panum’s zone of fusion?
This is the zone beyond and before the fixation plane that allows both eyes to fuse information into a single image.
Where do binocular cells arise and what is their function?
Binocular cells arise from layer 4 of V1 and these are responsible for allowing binocular single vision.
What is layer 3 of V1 responsible for?
Determining the depth of the panum’s zones.
Which layers of the LGN receive ipsilateral input?
2,3,5
Which layers of the LGN receive contralateral input?
1,4,6
Which layers do M type ganglion cells project on the lateral geniculate nucleus?
Layers 1 and 2
Which layers do P type ganglion cells project on the lateral geniculate nucleus?
Layers 3,4,5,6
Which ganglion cells terminate on layer IVCa in V1?
Magnocellular ganglion cells
Which layer of V1 do P cells terminate on?
Layer IVCb
Which layers of V1 do K cells terminate on?
Layer II and III
