Who is aristotle?
An ancient Greek philosopher.
What is an empiricist?
A person who claims that all knowledge comes from sense and experience.
Was aristotle an empiricist?
Yes. He valued reason as applied to the physical world.
What Greek word is virtue theory based on?
Arete (virtue)
What type of theory is virtue theory?
Teleological
What does arete mean?
Excellence or moral virtue.
What does teleological mean?
What is morally right or wrong depends on the outcome of an action. If the outcome is good then the action will be justified.
What is a moral exemplar?
Someone that has good virtues that you want to be like.
How is a virtue achieved?
By mimicking or following moral examplers in order to develop the same desirable trait.
What are the 3 different types of people in virtue theory?
