Action on bacteria
Bacteriostatic.
Mechanism of Action:
Binds to 30 S ribosomal subunits that inhibit access of the amino acyl-tRNA to mRNA-Ribosomal finally inhibit Protein synthesis.
Indications
Demeclocycline is useful in chronic hyponatremia due to Syndrome of Inappropriate ADH secretion
(SIADH)
Adverse effects
- Teeth & Bone Abnormalities
Teeth : Permanent yellow-brown discoloration
Bone : Deformity & inhibition of growth - Teratogenicit
- Inhibition of intestinal flora->superinfection
4-Nephrotoxic
5-hypersensitivity
6-Minocycline -> vertigo
