❗️❗️ Flashcards
What is borosilicate glass made off?
Boron trioxide and sand
Process of bioleaching
Uses a bacteria to convert an insoluble copper compound into a soluble copper compound, separating it from the ore. Displacement with scrap iron or electrolysis can separate it from the leachate
Four stages of waste water treatment
Sedimentation, aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, screening
What’s bronze made off?
What’s brass made off?
Copper and tin
Copper and zinc
What do you get in the complete combustions on an alkane?
Incomplete combustion of Alkenes?
Alkane+oxygen—> carbon dioxide + water
Alkene+oxygen—>carbon+ carbon monoxide+carbon dioxide+water
What happens during polymerisation?
C=C breaks and the monomers join together with single bonds
What bonds do giant covalent structures have that simple molecules don’t?
Giant covalent structures have covalent bonds whereas simples molecules have intermolecular forces between molecules.Covalent bonds are stronger than intermolecular forces so they have higher melting and boiling points
What is a zero error?
Why can it not be reduced by doing repeats?
How do we solve this?
A reading on a measuring instrument when the value should be zero.
Because it is a systematic error not a random error.
Subtract the zero error from each reading
