  • 3 types: Acadian, hairy, long-wristed
  • cold-blooded -> climate change can affect their physiology
  • found in periwinkle or moon snail shells
  • usually assess the new shells and willing to trade up - can call it a fashionista
  • always gather in a group - sociable creatures
  • willing to share the house / swap house with friends. Sometimes the swap is not amicable - a fight and steal
  • also fight vigorously for food and mates
  • they gauge the strength of the opponent by assessing the claw size
  • to camouflage, they mask their shells with algae or sea anemones
