Q

which of the 5 ethical issues did Zimbardo break and say how.

A

CONSENT-didnt fully inform what was going to happen e.g arrested from home, taken in police car
WITHDRAWAL-As the researcher zimbardo should’ve allowed participants to leave but as the superintendent he denied that.
PROTECTION-3 participants left due to psycological disturbance.

Q

Explain the strength of Zimbardo’s study having a high extranuous variables.

A

For examples Zimbardo selected emotionally stable male volunteers and also randomly put them in the group of a guards or prisoners.
>so therefore if they did comform it would be by chance and the role itself would have influenced the behaviour.

16
Q

What is a discussion point which goes against the AO3 of High control over extranuous variables.

A

-Zimbardo may have exaggerated
-1/3 of guards did display brutal behaviour towards the prisoners
-1/3 of guards tried to apply the rules fairly
-1/3 tried to actively help and support the prisoners
-Therefore Zimbardo may have overstated.

17
Q

Explain the issue of Gender Bias in Zimbardo’s experiment.

A

-He only used a male sample (androcentric)
-therefore finding cannot be generalised to women
-As women at the time were seen as stereotypically more caring and concerned for otheres therfore would have not comformed to the role of guards as much as males.

18
Q

What is a discussion point for Zimbardo’s Gender Bias?

A

At the time Zimbardo was interested in explaining brutality of American prison systems and majority at the time were male so therefore his gender bias was justified.
