Yr7 Unit 3: Light Flashcards
What is the law of reflection?
You need light to bounce of an object, for you to see it
What is the normal line
A line 90 degrees from the surface of reflection
What is special about the incident Ray and reflected Ray?
Both of them are the same angle away from the normal line.
I: angle of incidence
R: angle of reflection
Why does refraction occur?
Because as an image ( Ray or object eg: pencil) enters a object, from a different state, it changes speed, so it bends
How does light behave when bend?
As it enters, it bends towards the normal (depending of the density), and as it exits it bends back to the same angle from the normal, as it entered.
What do focus lenses do?
As light enters it bends slightly towards the focus, then as it exits , it goes straight to the focus, and then bends straight back out again.
What is the job of the pupil
A hole where the light enters
What is the optic nerve
Where it takes the image to be processed and displayed in your brain
What is the job of the retina?
The image is projected here, and it is gathered into the optic nerve
What order does the spectrum go in
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, indigo
If you put a yellow filter over a spectrum
Yellow, green and red would shine through
Name the 3 primary light colors
Red, blue and green
Name the 3 secondary light colors
Yellow, magenta and cyan.
What’s the rhyme to remember, primary, secondary and territory light colors
Better get ready when your madam comes back!
How do you create a spectrum?
You shine a white ray through a prism of any shape
