What is Culture?
Beliefs, values, customs and behaviours of a particular group or society.
What is Socialisation?
Learning and applying the ideology (goals and morals) and norms of society to yourself.
What does Stereotype mean?
An assumption about an individual based on social group members rather than individual characteristics.
What are Subcultures?
Subcultures are groups who’s members share characteristics or Interests such as norms, values, ethnicity, gender identity, etc
What does Pseudonym mean?
An aliase/fake name used in a survey.
What does Objective mean?
Someone’s judgment not being affected by bias.
What does subjective mean?
Someone’s judgment being shaped by opinion/feelings (bias).
What is Quantative Data and it’s use?
Numerical data/numbers Always factual), (used to analyse data).
What is Qualitative data and its use?
Words, descriptions and opinions (used to understand social life).
What does Social Change mean?
Adjustments and/or changes in the views, values, norms or structure of society.
What does Values mean?
The beliefs and principles an individual or society consideres and important and desirable.
What are the forms of scientific research methods?
Surveys! Interviews, document analysis, experiments and Fieldwork and participation observation
What does Culture Factor mean?
A cultural factor is any aspect of a society’s culture that influences people’s behaviors and beliefs. (Broad)
What does Social Factor mean
A social factor is any aspect of society that affects how people behave and interact. Eg: level of education, employment opportunities, general health, etc
What does Economic Factor mean?
The impact social class and socioeconomic status have on people within society.
