What is the difference between RIT and VTU?
VTU is the organizing body that defines the degrees, courses, syllabi, and other aspects of engineering and technological universities in the state of Karnataka. RIT is an autonomous university that is affiliated to VTU. RIT follows the guidelines set by VTU but is provided with some level of autonomy.
What is Information Science and Engineering?
Information Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines various domains of CS, Mathematics, Information Systems (DBs, DWs), DS, IT(networking, cybersec, cloud) and more.
It focuses on the creation, management, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information, and the development and implementation of information systems.
It is a field of study closely related to Computer Science of Engineering.
What is the difference between IS and CS?
Well theorectically,
CSE - Is the study of computation, algorithms and design of computer hardware, software and algorithms, including firmware, microchips, processors.
Examples: Web Development, Software Development, Network Security and AI.
ISE - Focuses on the creation, management, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information, and the development and implementation of information systems.
Examples: Database Management, Cloud Engineers, Data Analytics, Data Engineers.
But for all practical purposes, both degrees are the same as we are taught mostly the same subjects and students of both degrees have the same job opportunities.
