What are illegal drugs?
prohibited from manufacture, sale of posession in Australia.
What are legal drugs?
over the counter or prescription drugs.
What are pharmacueticals?
drugs available form a pharmacy, either over the counter or prescription.
What are the effects of stimulants on the body?
they speed up the function of the central nervous systme (CNS). They can increase allertness and make the user feel more energetic.
What are examples of stimulants?
caffeine, nicotine, cocaine.
what are the effects or depressants on the body?
they sow down the function of the CNS. They can calm the user down and make them feel relaxed.
What are examples of depressants?
alcohol and tranquiliser.
what are the effects of hallucinogens on the body?
otherwise known as psychidellics, can change perception, mood and cognitive process. they affect all senses, altering a person’s thinking, sense of time and emotions. They can cause people to hallucinate.
What are examples of hallucinogens?
LSD, cannabis.
What are some examples of OTC and prescription drugs?
Antibiotics
What are the short term effects of alcohol?
- impaired vision
- loss of conciousness
- nausea and vomiting
- reduced control of bladder
- reduced balance
- reduced coordination and reflexes
What are the laws about alcohol in Australia?
- you are not allowed to drink alcohol if you are under 18
- it is illegal to sell alcohol to someone under 18 or someone who is already drunk.

- Making a joke

What are the long term effects of alcohol?
- increased chance of diabetes and weight gain
- cancers such as stomach cancer, mouth cancer, throat cancer and liver cancer
- brain damage
- issues such a stroke and dementia
- heart issues such as high blood pressure, heart attacks and heart damage.
